I have studied the law of attraction for the last eight years. I have read hundreds of books and watched hours of documentaries on the subject. I have applied pretty much every single technique taught on the LOA. I started off with The Secret and then literally went down the rabbit hole (see what I did there). The secret barely touches on the truth about the law of attraction, you will not get what you want sitting on your ass thinking about what you want. The true LOA will be the hardest thing you will ever do in your life. It is the most confusing, frustrating thing I have ever done and I still haven't fully mastered it.
I am writing a summary of what I have learned and what has 100% worked for me. This summary is not all positive vibes and unicorns and rainbows because although the LOA has opened up a whole new beautiful, amazing world to me and given me the most incredible experiences and things, it also pushed me over the edge into a type of depression (was not clinically diagnosed). This post is going to be extremely long, I will start with what worked for me first and if you want you can go on to read the full story.
Here are the "techniques" that worked for me:
- vision board
- meditation
- gratitude diary/rock
- the free cup of coffee/lightly contemplated experience/thing
- feeling the wish fulfilled
- do not associate with negative people. EVER.
Here are the techniques that I don't feel has made any difference:
- visualization (acting a wanted scene in my minds eye)
- affirmations
- thinking of what I want constantly
- goal/wish lists
Here is a summary of what the LOA is and how it works in the most simplest way (easily written than done):
- Just feel good all the time, good emotions only
- Choose but don't want
- All is yours. Do not go seeking for that which you are. Appropriate it, claim it, assume it
Now on to the wall of text straight from my mind to yours.
VISION BOARD
One of the techniques that worked for me is the vision board, after investigating the LOA for so long I am honestly shocked that the vision board has worked for me so well. I think it's the easiest technique that's taught (especially good for parents teaching LOA to their kids). You take magazine clippings or images from the internet and you put them on a board (I have made boards with pictures and glue, I have also made virtual boards on my computer). Make the board look at it a few times think about the things you've put on there, imagine having them get excited about it and now put it away and forget about it. Don't feel tempted to go back and look at it. I have manifested 99% of what has been on my boards. I made my first board at 17 and if I need a laugh I go and have a look at it because the things I wanted at 17 are far from the things I want now, I'm a little embarrassed of "asking the universe" for those things, it's like reading your teenage diary.
GRATITUDE DIARY
I've had a gratitude diary and rock since reading The Magic. The reason these work for me personally is because writing down the things I have to be grateful for puts me at the top of the emotional scale. (I have the gratitude symbol tattooed on me to always remind me to be grateful). I write ten things I am grateful for almost every single night, on the rare occasion I am too tired to do this the gratitude rock is my back up. I hold my gratitude rock and think of as many things I can that I'm grateful for before I fall asleep. At first it was hard for me to think of things to be grateful for but the more you write the more you will find. Even what seem like simple things like being able to breathe normally, or run are amazing things to be grateful for. There are people in the world right now at this very moment wishing more than anything that they could breathe normally or run. Even that you exist is an amazing feat, a 1 in 400 trillion feat and that is something to be grateful f or. You're here and you have an opportunity to have the most incredible adventure of a life.
MEDITATION
Meditation is absolutely essential to make the LOA work for you. Quietening your mind will be beneficial in all aspects of your life. Don't half ass it, meditate for one hour a day every single day. You will have to build your time up over a few weeks to get to one hour but once you get there you won't go back. You have to "allow" the things you want to come into your life, your waking life is full of blocks and negative views on why you can't have the things you want and meditation is the foundation on which you will build your positive mindset. It is better to think of nothing than to think negative thoughts.
I meditate lying down (even though I have been told "that's not the right way to meditate". There is no right and wrong way to meditate, do what feels right to you. Just let yourself be, when a thought creeps up on you let it fade away. I started out by counting as far as I could without thinking about anything but the number I was on. It took me a long time to even get to 2 but I didn't give up. Don't give up, keep going and I promise you will eventually love it so much you can't go a day without it.
FEELING THE WISH FULFILLED
Feeling the wish fulfilled is the pure essence of the LOA. When you get right down to the basis of the LOA this is what it's all about. Feeling what you want. The reason we want things and experiences is because we think we will be happy when we get them or that getting a certain something like a specific car means we are successful. You're saying this item reflects my success status or my happiness status. Cut out all the crap and just feel happy now, feel successful, feel lucky, feel complete, feel love. Even if you don't do anything else, feeling your way to what you want will get you what you want. This is the hardest aspect of the LOA to grasp. Let's say your ultimate goal in life is to meet your soul mate and settle down. What feelings will you have when you are married and settled down with the man/woman of your dreams? Love. Contentment. Happiness. For this to work you will feel these emotions now. This is easier said than done, how can you feel love when up until this poi nt all you've had are miserable, damaging and unfulfilling relationships? You say to yourself, that was what happened to me it's in the past but it's not what is happening to me now I don't live in the past I live now.
If you're feeling "oh, poor me I will never find anyone" this will be reflected right back to you in your experience here. Write a new story now. Let's look at another example. Let's say it's your dream to own a lamborghini. You're job now is to write down the emotions and feelings that you feel will come with owning a lamborghini and now feel those feelings constantly. It will gain momentum, take time out of your day to ask yourself how am I feeling now, am I feeling good or am I feeling bad. If you're feeling bad you're not in the right place and you're not thinking the right thoughts. As soon as you catch yourself being negative stop yourself from getting on the train of negativity. Do anything you can, watch something funny, get up and dance. You will get good at this. You will catch yourself out more and more and this is when the good stuff starts happening.
FREE CUP OF COFFEE
The free cup of coffee. One of the reasons you can't manifest things that seem a big deal to you right this instant is because of the hundreds and hundreds of thoughts, emotions, past experiences you have attached to them. You can't allow something into your life if deep down you don't feel it's truly possible. Start off your manifestation journey with small insignificant things, for example lemons (don't use this example if for some reason lemons bring up any kind of energy for you). Lemons, just think about them for a second. They're yellow, sour, they grow on trees. In meditation today think of lemons just for a second as you're bringing yourself out of your session. Now watch them show up. Lemons, lemons everywhere :)
LOA IN DEPTH
Now I will write a more in depth version of what the LOA is at it's core. As I explained before, the reason we want things is because we think it will make us happy. Therefore your job, so to speak is to assume the person you will become when you have everything you want, NOW! Write down exactly how you will dress, speak, act, what kind of people you are around, how your average day unfolds. What holidays you go on, what kind of partner you have, where you live, what car you drive etc. The term choose but don't want really helped me surmise how to select things I wanted. You are choosing experiences from millions of different options, you are not "wanting" them. "I want this specific thing to come into my experience, I don't need it but it's something that would be cool if I got it".
WARNING NEGATIVITY AHEAD
Now to the "negative" side of things and what happened to me after I thought I had broken through and finally onto something. I went through a short stage in my life where I knew negative thoughts are doing nothing for me and I can't have them so I will push them away. I really was having the best days of my life, I felt amazing, I felt successful, I was always happy. I would say wow my "vibe" is really high today. I know I'm being looked after, always. Food tasted better, music sounded better, people were nice to me, I went on the holiday of my dreams during this time. I was in a routine, I woke up in the morning and read or watched only "positive" things, meditated for an hour, I didn't watch TV.
One day (I would say three weeks into this amazing feeling) I woke up and I felt the worst I had ever felt in my entire life. I felt suicidal, really the most extremely worst feeling ever. This came at me out of nowhere, I lost all motivation to do anything including just having a shower or getting out of bed. The vibe was gone. This bad feeling lasted, at it's extreme level for three days and gradually subsided over the course of three-four months (a long time I know).
In hindsight I have worked out what I believed happened. Firstly, my routine was thrown off by my husbands cousin coming to stay with us for 6 weeks (it was supposed to be 2). Husbands cousin who shall not be named is (to me) a very negative person with a victim attitude and having him around was very hard for me. I also had an argument with said cousin, I ended up apologising to keep the peace for my husband.
Secondly, I think the feeling I had woken up to on that fateful day was actually my old normal feelings that I had every day before I (thought) had mastered the LOA but the contrast from high vibe as I call it to normal feeling was so vast it completely knocked me out.
It has taken me months to recover from being knocked out, and I am not 100% back to being high vibe. If I can give any of you advice about what happened to me it is that you come first before anyone or anything. Your "routine" and being high vibe comes before absolutely anything and anyone.
THE END
I have so much more I want to tell you but will save it for a later post, including what techniques haven't worked for ma and why. Please feel free to message me any questions. Don't forget, every day is your day.
